We are here for a reason

During the past week there has been a lot of television programming dedicated to significant events that occurred in
2023. It’s good to look back and remember, isn’t it? The Church on the Bluff had some remarkable things happen and
we Do certainly rejoice in them. However, I like what Paul said in Philippians 3:13: “But one thing I do: Forgetting what
is behind and straining toward what is ahead,”
2023 was a great year, but what will 2024 being for us? We are a small church in the shadow of some very large
congregations of Christian churches. They do great work and have wonderful ministries. But Church on the Bluff is
neither unnecessary nor ineffective. We exist for a reason: God put us here to minister and serve this community.
Without losing sight of who we are…a conservative, Bible believing, family of loving Christians…we should begin looking
forward, even so we learn from the past.”
What ministries, events, activities, and services that we currently perform do we need to bolster or dismiss? What are
some things we can do differently and what are some things we can begin that we haven’t done before? I’m not talking
about changes in our traditional worship practices …that’s part of who we are…rather, I’m looking at ministries and
events that will help us better serve people and engage them in building a community that enriches families with a
sound moral atmosphere; one that pleases God and encourages true Biblical principles.
As I’ve said, we are who we are. We make no apologies for that. So, let’s pray and seek God’s direction as to how to use
that to make a difference on this mountain.
Say good things about your Savior and His church.
