Is Jesus a Socialist? Believe it or not, there are preachers, theologians, and other religious leaders who
claim that He is. The overwhelming number of those folks are false teachers striving to equate Jesus to
the liberal, leftist views of “progressive Christianity”.
The Bible clearly teaches us that we are to take care of people in need; to help the widowed and
fatherless. It tells us to be compassionate, loving, and generous. But it is always to be free and un-
coerced giving, volunteered from a caring heart.
Socialism forcefully takes from those that have and shares it with those that don’t have as much as
others. There would be governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and
distribution of goods. That means no private ownership of land or businesses. You would not own your
home and land and everything from food to healthcare would be rationed as determined by a number
of people in places of authority.
First of all, Socialism, as evidenced from history, seeks to do away with God (religion in general). So why
would Jesus advocate for it? And, why, if Jesus taught Socialist ideology, don’t Socialists wholeheartedly
embrace Jesus? Obviously, it is because Jesus isn’t a Socialist. In fact, He isn’t that concerned with
government except that its laws be fair and equitable. Other than that, work for what you get and be
generous with what you have.
Say good things about your Savior and His church on this bluff.
