He is still on His throne,

Is America a Christian nation? That’s an easy question to answer:  yes and no.  Yes, there is no doubt
that the Pilgrims came over to the New World to escape persecution from the state-run religion of
England. If you read the charters of the newly formed states you will find, not only references to God,
but also to Christianity.  Take the following from the Massachusetts Constitution in 1780, for instance:
“It is the right as well as the duty of all men in society, publicly and at stated seasons, to worship the
Supreme Being, the great Creator and Preserver of the universe. And no subject shall be hurt, molested,
or restrained, in his person, liberty, or estate, for worshipping God in the manner and season most
agreeable to the dictates of his own conscience, or for his religious profession or sentiments, provided
he doth not disturb the public peace or obstruct others in their religious worship.”
“Any person chosen governor, lieutenant-governor, councillor, senator, or representative, and accepting
the trust, shall, before he proceed to execute the duties of his place or office, make and subscribe the
following declaration, viz:   ‘I _______, do declare that I believe the Christian religion…'””
It’s really hard to say that we were not founded as a peculiar nation based on the doctrines and
teachings of Christianity.  And I believe that God, Himself, blessed our nation because of it. We were not
a perfect nation because we are not a perfect people.  From time to time we surely messed up.  But
even then we endeavored to keep Christian morals and Godly precepts in the forefront.  Well that is no
longer so.
Jerry Nadler, a Democratic representative from New York said this:  “God’s will is of no concern to this
Congress”.  He said that publicly, in full view of the cameras, with no fear of reprisal from his
constituents.  So…no, we are not dedicated to Christian principles, nor do we seek to honor God in our
nation. And, honestly, that doesn’t bode well for our country.
But, I’m not defeated and I am not in despair. God may no longer be recognized by our government as
our great benefactor and the One who protects, but He is still on His throne, leading and empowering
His church.  No matter what becomes of our beloved nation, the gates of hell will not prevail against His
church! Of that, I am certain and sure.
